Society has changed so much…

We wondered whether it was good leadership from us to be printing single-use items like these booklets. It’s not just about the paper, but the trucks and planes that move 25,000 copies around Australia each year.

 We asked schools what they thought…

In November 2022 we sent a survey to the 500 schools who had already pre-registered for the next NYLD. Teachers overwhelmingly told us what we were expecting… it was time for a new solution that would be better for the environment.

Other enviro-friendly options…

We have created a PDF booklet suitable for all devices, which has lots of information. Some people will bring a device to this event so that they can take their notes on the PDF, or in a note-taking app that they use regularly at school. Others will bring along a journal or exercise book for taking notes today, but it will be a book that they use for other things throughout the year.

As event organisers, we will make sure you are better off...

Our tiny change will make sure the environment is better off. But you will be too. Instead of printing generic event booklets we now provide your school with custom materials online. PDF booklets are available in advance and include classroom activities to help prepare for the event. Schools can now access a PowerPoint/slideshow in advance so that your group can be guided in preparing for the day and learn more about the speakers. These ideas wouldn’t have arisen if we simply stuck to providing booklets on seats like we had for over 25 years.
